Michelle Purves is a self-taught artist renowned for her atmospheric and captivating cloudscapes that evoke emotion and beauty. Drawing inspiration from the ever-changing philosophers of the sky, Purves' work captures the ethereal nature of clouds with deft brushstrokes and layered textures.
After leaving a corporate career in management consulting, she embarked on a journey of self-discovery, honing her skills and developing her unique artistic style inspired by the magnificence of the sky.
In 2002, Purves held her first solo exhibition in Sydney, marking the beginning of her successful career as an artist. Since then, she has showcased her work in various solo and group exhibitions in Sydney, United States, China, Europe, and Japan, captivating audiences with her mesmerising depictions of clouds and celestial landscapes.
Purves's paintings have found homes in private collections worldwide, cherished for their ability to evoke a sense of wonder and contemplation. Her artistic talent has also been recognized on the international stage, earning her prestigious accolades such as the Artiste Emergent award in Monaco and the Runner-up title in the Global Art Awards in Dubai.
Beyond my artistic pursuits, I am dedicated to fostering sustainable living. I've passionately undertaken a project on a property in Somersby, where I planted over five hundred trees specifically chosen to support animals on the brink of extinction. These trees carefully cultivated from seed, require weekends of maintenance, and represent my commitment to environmental stewardship. This initiative serves as a living testament to the interconnectedness of art and nature, a living canvas that supports biodiversity and ecological balance. A harmonious sanctuary that not only celebrates the beauty of the natural world but actively contributes to its preservation.
